Freewill- Amazing Customized Care For Beautiful Hair

Freewill Hair Care: Complete Review, Experience and FAQs

Freewill Customized Hair Care: I am a curly-haired girl. Fellow curl-headed people will surely relate with me here, curls are a responsibility. Not that other hair types aren’t but curly hair can really make you sweat, well, if you aren’t using products that make your tresses manageable.

I was in constant pursuit of such products, which will help make my hair less of a chore, and stumbled across some advertisements on Instagram regarding customized haircare. One of these ads were from a company named Freewill, that claims to use AI (Artificial Intelligence) to formulate shampoos and conditioners to that caters to each individual’s hair needs.

This policy resonates with their belief— ‘Each head of hair is unique; so should be their care’.

As soon as I visited their website, a free hair consultation popped up. It was a questionnaire, with some simple and some really interesting questions. Below are some screenshots.

I received my package via FedEx after a week of ordering them. I brought one time set of products that consisted of a Shampoo (250 ml), Conditioner (150 ml), and a hair serum (30 ml). All the products except the serum were customized just for my hair and adhered to my concerns. You have your name written over the shampoo and conditioner bottles.

This one-time thing costed me Rs.1650/- for 60 days. There are other offers too, single product (shampoo or conditioner) and a combo (buy 2, get 1 free) for different prices.

Packaging

The bottles come in a cardboard box with the ‘Freewill’ branding on the top, and inside we get all the three bottles we ordered, as you saw in the picture. Both the big bottles come with pump caps separately, and the serum bottle has a dropper cap. The attachments fit quite sturdy on the bottles; hence they have a good chance of not leaking through while travelling. The fragrance is not very overpowering either, which doesn’t make much difference to me, but if you are someone who doesn’t like very strong scents, this will suit you well.

If we now talk about the claims it makes, it promises to tackle the hair concerns you chose in their quiz, alongside making your hair manageable and feel clean & fresh without drying your tresses, to a much greater extent till your next wash day as it is paraben and sulphate free. Also, it is said to be mild enough for everyday use, but surely, I won’t recommend that.

Did It Work?

Let’s now that about how it actually turned out to be. Did it deliver what it promised, or it didn’t meet up with my expectations……?

The answer is, it sure worked! I was skeptical while ordering it primarily because it was so much more expensive than any other store-brought shampoo and conditioner, but this proved to be a really good investment.

My Experience

Here is my first wash experience with all the products that came in my package.

From the very first wash itself, while still in the shower, I definitely felt my head to be a lot lighter, like some burden was lifted off of my head. My scalp was squeaky clean and my strands weren’t knotted. I could easily run my fingers through them while they were soaking wet.

Moving onto the conditioner, it surely isn’t as heavy as the drugstore conditioners, though it has the same consistency. But since it isn’t as heavy, I definitely needed more amount than I would normally use, especially since I have curls (I am a 2c, wavy curly) that tend to get frizzy because of lack of moisture in them.

As far as my experience goes, my hair was easier to detangle, and it felt really soft once it air-dried. There was some luster too! Also this doesn’t weigh my hair down, or makes it feel like it has some unwashed sticky residue left.

I didn’t see much of a ‘wow’ difference with the serum, but I guess since that wasn’t customized it works like any other hair serum would. I also didn’t expect much from the serum, I ordered it along with the package because, 1) It was a good offer and 2) I ran out my old one.

Final Verdict

Now it has been a little over a month since I started using Freewill customized hair care. Since I ordered a package for 60 days, and I am past the midway, I feel now would be the right time to derive a sound judgement on how has these products made my hair feel overall.

My verdict is, they absolutely delivered what they promised! It did make a huge difference in my hair.

  • My flakes stopped coming to the surface soon after the first week and now my scalp isn’t even that flaky anymore (it still is a bit, but they are at bay).
  • Frizz control is a major differentiating factor in my hair now.
  • My mane is visibly more voluminous, lustrous and moisturized.
  • My curl pattern is more defined than ever (since 2c curls aren’t coiled, frizz and stretching out of curls are more prominent in my case).
  • I am yet to see the lengthening of my hair, but it is definitely thicker than before.
  • Although during the beginning days once my hair was dry, I kind of felt it to be one shade lighter. I don’t know if it is these products or something else, but this was there for a couple of hours. It doesn’t happen anymore though.
  • Since the shampoo doesn’t contain sulphates, it is not a clarifying product. Hence there is a good possibility of needing to wash your hair every 3rd day, which works perfect for me but might differ from person to person. Also you might need to use a sulphate shampoo once in a fortnight to just clear your scalp of any build up that might be there.
  • It lasts really long. It said 60 days, and it has already been 35+ days, still I fall a little behind 50% of the quantity in the bottle. If you are someone who has their wash day every 4th or 5th day, it will last you even longer.

Recommendation

Yes. I will recommend this to anyone for whom other branded products just aren’t working that great. But I will say this, do not expect anything overnight, or even over a span of 1-2 weeks. Our hair has always been treated with chemicals and it will take it’s time to adjust to no sulphate, no paraben concoctions. Once it does, you won’t feel like going back to chemicals either!

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • All-natural ingredients (no sulfate, no paraben, no silicones)
  • Smells decent
  • Quantity is commendable
  • Packaging is sturdy, fit for traveling
  • Price is reasonable
  • Shows result sooner than expected
  • Customer service is cooperative

Cons:

  • Conditioner needs to be applied, otherwise hair gets really dry
  • Hair might feel a shade lighter in the beginning
  • Hair serum isn’t that good. There are others that are better, in the market
