Bare Anatomy: Everything You Need To Know To Save Your Hair

Bare Anatomy: Complete Review, Experience and FAQs

This post reviews the Bare Anatomy Customized Hair Care Products

I am a curly-haired girl. Fellow curl-headed people will surely relate with me here, curls are a responsibility. Not that other hair types aren’t but curly hair can really make you sweat, well, if you aren’t using products that make your tresses manageable.

A few months ago, in July, I posted a very detailed and vast review on a customized hair care brand called Freewill, which uses AI (Artificial Intelligence) to formulate shampoos and conditioners to that caters to each individual’s hair needs. If you haven’t read that article, read it here: Freewill Review

Today I will be writing a review on a similar brand, incorporating AI in the formulation of their concoctions for individual hair needs. This brand is called, Bare Anatomy, and this review stems from my experience with this product for past one month.

As soon as I visited their website, a free hair consultation popped up. It was a questionnaire, with some simple and some really interesting questions. Below are some screenshots.

I received my package after a week of ordering them. I brought one time set of products that consisted of a Shampoo (300 ml), Conditioner (300 ml), and a pre-shampoo hair masque (200 gm). All the products were customized just for my hair and adhered to my concerns. You have your name written over both, the bottles and the masque jar too.

This one-time thing cost me Rs. 2,478/- and there are other packages too, namely, Shampoo + Conditioner, Shampoo + Conditioner + Hair Oil + Hair Serum + Pre-Shampoo Mask, for different prices.

Packaging

The bottles come in a cardboard box with the ‘Bare Anatomy’ branding on the top, and inside we get all the three jars we ordered, as you saw in the picture. Both the bottles come with pump caps separately, and the pre-shampoo masque is in a pot jar. The attachments fit quite sturdy on the bottles; hence they have a good chance of not leaking through while travelling. The fragrance is not very overpowering either, which doesn’t make much difference to me, but if you are someone who doesn’t like very strong scents, this will suit you well.

If we now talk about the claims it makes, it promises to tackle the hair concerns you chose in their quiz, alongside making your hair manageable and feel clean & fresh without drying your tresses, to a much greater extent till your next wash day as it is paraben and sulphate free. Also, it is said to be mild enough for everyday use, but surely, I won’t recommend that.

Did It Work?

Let’s now that about how it actually turned out to be. Did it deliver what it promised, or it didn’t meet up with my expectations……?

So, my answer would be, yes! They did work. They do what they claim. My goals included a) Volume, which I got on the roots (that was my only concern regarding volume, since I have pretty big hair already) b) Anti-frizz, which has lessened quite well as well and c) Strengthen, and I have got to say, my hair elasticity has increased a bit as well (it wasn’t very noticeable in the beginning though).

For Freewill, I was skeptical regarding the price, and that didn’t disappoint me. With Bare Anatomy, I was skeptical of product change. I wondered how would my hair take the sudden change of products, although they both didn’t contain SLS, Parabens or Sulfates, their composition is still different. Although, I feel with Bare Anatomy, my hair feels a bit dry even after conditioning, I think I just need to apply a bit more. We will discus these in detail now.

My First Wash Experience

My first wash experience with each product.

Pre-Shampoo masque: The thing I did with this product was, I applied a little bit of water all over my scalp and my hair length, and then took about 2-3 dime sized amount of the pre-shampoo masque on my palm and applied it all over my scalp and hair. I left it on for 15-20 minutes in a bun, and when I rinsed it off under running, my hair felt so smooth and soft! Needless to say, it smelt amazing too. I could run my fingers through my hair like it was silk. Absolutely loved the first impression of this product.

Please note that for every product you use on your head, your hair and scalp needs to be damp, because if you look at the ingredients of each of these products, the first thing you see is always water/aqua and that means: these products will be activated when in presence of water.

Shampoo: Now coming onto the cleansing of my scalp and hair, I took about 3 pumps of this shampoo on my palm and scrubbed it onto my scalp (you are not supposed to put shampoo on your hair strands, the shampoo that will flow over your hair while rinsing it off will be enough to cleanse them). After a good massage with my fingertips on my scalp, I put my head down in the shower and rinsed off the shampoo, all the while scrubbing my head with fingertips. When I put my head up, it felt so light! My scalp felt squeaky clean and it felt like a lot of stuff has been washed out of my head!

Conditioner: Since I have curly hair, hydration is the key to curl definition. I pumped out a generous amount of conditioner on my palm and applied it in my tresses. Left it in a bun for a couple of minutes and rinsed it off, just to find smooth as silk hair!

I then plopped my hair up in a micro-fiber towel (or you could use a plain cotton tee), and ringed all the excess water out of it. I let it down and gently de-tangled my hair, which was surprisingly easier! I then let it air-dry for as long as it takes (approximately 3 hours), and I could already see the curls form. When my hair was completely dry, I absolutely loved the minimized frizz and bounce in my hair. The conditioner didn’t weigh my hair down, and the shampoo didn’t dry my hair out too much. The volume at the roots was commendable and I had soft open curls.

Final Verdict

Now it has been a little over two weeks since I started using Bare Anatomy customized hair care. I feel now would be the right time to derive a sound judgement on how has these products made my hair feel overall. In case, there are any significant changes in my hair this moment onwards, I will update this article, so stay tuned!

My verdict is, they absolutely delivered what they promised, but it didn’t make a huge difference to my hair, probably since I had been using Freewill before that, which targeted pretty much the same hair woes for me, and had a similar composition. But this company has its own great pointers too!

  • Frizz control is a major differentiating factor in my hair now.
  • My mane is visibly more voluminous, but I don’t really know about the hydration factor, yet.
  • My curl pattern is more defined than earlier (since 2c curls aren’t coiled, frizz and stretching out of curls are more prominent in my case) they look more like 2c now, and not extra coiled or straighter.
  • My hair is definitely thicker than before.
  • Since the shampoo doesn’t contain sulfates, it is not a clarifying product. Hence there is a good possibility of needing to wash your hair every 3rd day, which works perfect for me but might differ from person to person. Also, you might need to use a sulfate shampoo once in a fortnight to just clear your scalp of any build up that might be there.
  • I believe it will last for quite a while, since the quantity is more than Freewill bottles, which was 250ml of Shampoo and 200ml of conditioner, whereas Bare Anatomy provides 300ml each. If you are someone who has their wash day every 4th or 5th day, it will last you even longer.

Will I Recommend Bare Anatomy?

Yes. I will recommend this to anyone for whom other branded products just aren’t working that great. Surely I am not as sure how much time will it take to show desired results, since I had been using Freewill which brought my hair to a good state, hence I am not as confident to say how long will this product would have taken but I will say this, do not expect anything overnight, since as I said on my Freewill article, our hair has always been treated with chemicals and it will take it’s time to adjust to no sulphate, no paraben concoctions. Once it does, you won’t feel like going back to chemicals either!

Pros V/S Cons

Pros:

  • All-natural ingredients (no sulfate, no paraben, no silicones)
  • Smells decent
  • Quantity is commendable
  • Packaging is sturdy, fit for traveling
  • Price is reasonable
  • Shows result sooner than expected
  • Customer service is cooperative

Cons:

  • Conditioner needs to be applied in a considerable amount, otherwise hair gets really dry
  • Didn’t make any tremendous effect (it is mostly personal, might vary person to person)

Frequently Asked Questions

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this blog.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very difficult to get

I must say that you’ve done a fantastic job with this.
Additionally, the blog loads extremely fast for me on Chrome.
